NORMA Group secures large order from China for innovative fluid pipes

Maintal, Germany, 14 June 2012

NORMA Group AG ("NORMA Group"), a global market and technology leader for engineered joining technology, has secured a large order from a leading Chinese truck manufacturer for innovative fluid pipes that are part of the NORMAFLEX product group. The fluid pipes will be manufactured in the Qingdao facility in China from 2013. NORMA Group will produce about 48,000 pipes annually until 2020.

This major order entails the development and production of heated and unheated pipe systems and joining components from thermoplastics, which form a part of the "Selective Catalytic Reduction" (SCR) technology. The pipes are used to convey urea into the exhaust pipe to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions. OEMs in the engine industry, which are subject to tight emission regulation, are showing particular interest in SCR products that help them comply with ever stricter exhaust treatment standards.

"We are excited about this significant order in the area of SCR technology which will put NORMA Group firmly on the map in China. The country is an important growth market for us and the order shows that we are also establishing ourselves in this dynamic region as a leading provider of joining and fluid technology," says John Stephenson, COO of NORMA Group and President of the Asia-Pacific region.
