NORMA Group improves V profile clamp assembly
Maintal, Germany, 29 August 2012
NORMA Group, a global market and technology leader in engineered joining technology, has launched an innovative V profile clamp allowing unprecedented ease of assembly. The new NORMACONNECT V PP profile clamp has been designed to meet the requirements for tight packaging spaces in the motor vehicle industry. NORMACONNECT V PP profile clamps are patented connecting elements for flange pipes used in various applications including exhaust gas, cooling and filter systems, as well as turbochargers and charged air applications. NORMA Group will start mass production of this new clamp together with a leading international producer of charged air and exhaust gas systems and a European passenger vehicle manufacturer as soon as this year. The NORMACONNECT V PP profile clamp will be produced in the facility in Gerbershausen, Germany. About 1.3 million clamps will be manufactured here in 2013.
The new NORMACONNECT V PP profile clamp is characterised by an integrated retaining clip which allows to prefix the clamp during assembly, and thus, compared to conventional V profile clamps, helps to eliminate the risk of tilting of the screw during assembly. Easy to install using standard tools, the clamp helps to reduce assembly time. The NORMACONNECT V PP profile clamp has been optimised for extremely tight packaging spaces and is thus particularly suitable for motor vehicle applications such as exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems, and charged air connections. In addition, it is characterised by low weight which in turn helps to reduce the overall weight of the systems.
